SARANGAN BELL AND ITS HISTORY



Sarangan Lake, also known as Telaga Pasir, is a natural lake which is located at an altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level and is located on the slopes of Mount Lawu, Plaosan District, Magetan Regency, East Java. This lake is about 16 kilometers west of Magetan City. This lake is about 30 hectares wide and 28 meters deep. With temperatures between 15 to 20 degrees Celsius. 


Sarangan Lake is able to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. Sarangan Lake is a mainstay tourist attraction Magetan Regency Surrounding the lake are two star hotels, 43 jasmine class hotels, and 18 tourist cottages. In addition to dozens of souvenir stalls, visitors can also enjoy the beauty of Sarangan by horseback riding around the lake, or riding a fast boat. Other tourist attraction facilities are also available, for example restaurants, playgrounds, tourist markets, parking lots, places of worship, and parks.


The existence of 19 restaurants around the lake makes visitors have many alternative menu choices. Likewise, the existence of street vendors offering various souvenirs has made it easy for visitors to buy souvenirs. A typical dish sold around the lake is rabbit satay. Magetan is also helped by the potential for local small industries which are capable of producing handicrafts for souvenirs, such as woven bamboo, leather crafts, shoe crafts, and typical food products such as emping melinjo and plates (puli crackers, namely rice crackers). 


Telaga Sarangan also has a service boat and water rickshaw rental services. There are 51 motor boats and 13 water rickshaws that can be used to explore the lake. Sarangan lake has several important annual event calendars, namely offering offerings on Friday Pon Ruwah month, school holidays in the middle of the year, Ledug Sura 1 Muharram, and fireworks on New Year's Eve.
